Outer Scaffold

Some perspectives on the world are the sole domain of specialised industries. So when the opportunity arises to experience such a perspective oneself, it’s always a good idea to take it.

Shooting on a heavily-trafficked expressway deck is tricky at best when the steady rumble of vehicles shakes the camera. I found myself lying sideways against the tripod to force it against the side barriers, horizontal arm holding the camera out upside-down over the river, eyes peeled for a break in the traffic in which to hit the shutter button.

Shooting on mobile scaffolding suspended from a vehicle on such a deck is even worse, of course…

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, the underside of the expressway deck consists entirely of concrete and pigeon poo. Gaining such insights is what life is all about, right?
