Assembly Point

It would be interesting to know how much spray paint gets thrown around Brisbane walls in a given week. Here’s another location that’s feeling the love of the local graffers and vandals, as such buildings generally do.

Since last I visited, this place has had further disincentives installed, though these things are never foolproof. Inventive people will either ignore or circumvent them, be they photographers, spray-painters, or just the curious and bored. Clearly, there’s been some traffic recently.
So, in we went, some taking the easy way, and the more foolish taking the quicker route.

This site is large, so once inside, there was little issue with getting in each others’ way. Someone did suggest combining lighting efforts for a single shot of the interior, but that idea fell by the wayside fairly quickly…
On my part, I gravitated again towards the silly colours, trying further to find a tasteful and justifiable use. I’m not sure I quite succeeded, but it’s further food for thought. I like the blue on the inside of the broken glass, and I’d be keen to try it on a derelict car I’ve seen a few times – it’s a bit Troy Paiva, but that’s no bad thing.

I called the repair place about my camera late last week, but still haven’t actually had it looked at. So, this evening’s effort involved a rubber band, a flanged Sennheiser earbud endpiece, and some patience. Sadly, while I found an angle on the main structure that I liked, my shots were vastly, vastly underexposed, and they appear here mostly as a reminder to myself to go back and shoot something properly.

I came out of the site with the feeling that I didn’t really want to go back in a hurry, but now I’m not so sure – I think I could probably keep from being bored.

I to like the blue windows. Feel like they are part of some dystopian future.
I think the site deserves another look. I have one specific idea for lighting in the vein of you last two wide sweeping shots.
Dystopian future is a worthy look to aim for, I think… well put.
