Road trip! With a bit of time to myself, I figured there was nothing to do but head out to Stanthorpe and Girraween, so I (literally) threw enough gear into the car to facilitate camping if necessary, and pointed the car west.

Remnants of Queensland’s preparations for war in the 1940s are still around more than sixty years later. Some just blend into the urban environment, like the air-raid shelters scattered through suburban Brisbane. Others, like the remnants of this radar station, are more obvious.
